About The Special Edition Print

In an effort to make his prints more affordable and to introduce more people to his work, Scott introduces a new photograph each quarter at a price significantly below his standard prints. Each Special Edition Print is an entirely new photograph which has not been previously offered for sale. Identical to his standard prints, these photographs are only available at this price during the quarter they are introduced. Once the quarter is over, they will priced at his standard print prices. To stay informed as each Special Edition Print is introduced, we recommend signing up for our email NEWSLETTER.

Printing Technique

Scott individually prints all of his own photographs by hand in a traditional darkroom using classic materials and techniques. No digital technology is used. Each print is double fixed, selenium toned for permanence, archivally washed and comes mounted and overmated on 4 ply Artcare board. Artcare boards employ a patented MicroChamber molecular trap for the highest possible protection from harmful compounds that damage and reduce the effective life of photographs.

Scott's photographs are made using two different techniques:

- Silver Chloride Contact Prints

These photographs are made with an 8x10 view camera. The resulting negatives are contact printed on Azo and developed in Amidol. Azo is the world's only remaining silver chloride contact printing paper and is also the longest continuously manufactured photographic paper ever made. Each of Scott's 8x10 and 4x10 contact prints are mounted and overmated to a final size of 13x15.

- Silver Gelatin Enlargements

These prints are made on Ilford Multigrade VI fiber based papers developed in Amidol. Each of Scott's 8x8 prints are mounted and overmated to a final size of 16x16. Selected silver gelatin prints can also be enlarged to sizes larger than 8x8. Please CONTACT US for more information.

Technical Information

Scott's 8x10 and 4x10 Azo contact prints are made using a 1950's Kodak Masterview camera with lens focal lengths ranging from 12" to 24" and Efke 100 film processed in Pyrocat 2:2:100. His enlargements are made using a late 1960's model Rollei SL66 camera and Agfa APX 100 film. He develops this film in highly dilute Rodinal using minimal agitation development. His enlargements are made using a Saunders LPL-4550XLG with variable contrast head and Rodagon APO enlarging lenses. All of his prints are developed in Amidol.
